I miss many aspects of my former blog, Minneapolis 81 but what I miss most is that the project led me to parts of the city I hadn't explored. To get a bit of that back, I've decided to visit all of the parks listed on the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board website. For two years in a row, Minneapolis has been rated #1 by the Trust for Public Land. This is my way of celebrating and supporting one of the top things I love about living and working in the City of Lakes.
East River Flats Park is steps away from my office. Some U of M employees know it simply as a cheap place to park. However, it's also a great place to take a walk or bring your lunch. Down by the Mississippi River, what this park lacks in bells and whistles it makes up for in large open, green space for games or gatherings.
The University of Minnesota Boathouse is located here and if you arrive at the right time, you'll catch the rowing team practice. I love the building design and wish I could work there! Just look at the patio!
Have you been to East River Flats Park?
