As soon as I set my mind on a goal, I'm am typically pretty determined. That is especially the case with walking goals. I mentioned to a few people that I wanted to walk more than 60,000 steps in a day since David Sedaris referenced that number as his FitBit accomplishment in an interview. All of the conditions needed for me to attempt such a long walk were in place on Sunday - reasonable temperatures, partly sunny/cloudy, an eager walking partner in Scott, and an event stretching twenty blocks of Lyndale Avenue (Open Streets) to get us off to a great start.

Even though the chance of rain was quite high, the morning and early afternoon were lovely so we decided to proceed with our plan to walk the Open Streets route. I knew we wouldn't make it if we started at our home so we drove to Saint Anthony Main for our starting point.
The Open Streets event was great and afterwards we ate lunch at Victory 44, took a bus downtown, walked across the Stone Arch Bridge and barely missed torrential rains by ducking into Aster Cafe for a drink and appetizers.
We crossed the river! That phrase has never meant much to me since I'm a transplant but people here like to play up the faux rivalry between Minneapolis and St. Paul. Scott and I have already walked around a huge chunk of Minneapolis and though I will never tire of exploring all of its nooks and crannies, I do like to change things up.
