As soon as I set my mind on a goal, I'm am typically pretty determined. That is especially the case with walking goals. I mentioned to a few people that I wanted to walk more than 60,000 steps in a day since David Sedaris referenced that number as his FitBit accomplishment in an interview. All of the conditions needed for me to attempt such a long walk were in place on Sunday - reasonable temperatures, partly sunny/cloudy, an eager walking partner in Scott, and an event stretching twenty blocks of Lyndale Avenue (Open Streets) to get us off to a great start.

A favorite spring/summer outing is walking to Sea Salt for Mahi tacos. We took advantage of the beautiful day and headed to Minnehaha Falls late in the morning. I had already put on about 5 miles from a dog walk and a trip to Caribou Coffee at 50th and France. I guess I was determined to get as many steps in as possible (I walked 40,000+ today)!

We hit the Grand Rounds trail and headed toward Minnehaha Falls. The pedestrian trails are still too snow-packed so we shared the trail with cyclists. Once we got to Minnehaha Drive, I got turned around and we had to back track a bit.
After spending a bit of time looking at the Falls, we headed toward Harriet Brewing for a break before heading home on the bus.
