Scott and I arrived in Miami, Florida around noon and moments after stepping foot outside of the airport, realized the cultural and climatic differences we'd be experiencing over the next 4 days. Considering it snowed in Minneapolis on the Monday before our trip, we were elated to be in the 85 degree sun. Scott's parents, Howard and Mary picked us up from the airport and treated us to a scenic drive to the southernmost city in the United States, Key West. We were able to see the Miami sky (and beach) line before driving through the keys. Immediately, I knew I would have no problem taking photos as we drove past flowering tree after flowering tree. When we arrived at our hotel in Key West, we were all too tired to do too much exploring. Before finding a place to eat dinner, I snapped a few photos of the palm trees on the beach of our hotel. It isn't a real beach as in it is man made but it still is a wonderful change of pace from Minnesota.
It was Cinco de Mayo and we decided to eat at Chico's Catina on Stock Island where I enjoyed their fish tacos. It was a great start to our tropical getaway!
I attempted my first 365 photo project in 2011. I made it to Day 246.
