This weekend when I saw that today would be the best forecasted weather day of the week, I decided it'd be a grand day to take off from work. I am so glad I did. I enjoyed the sun by running/walking from my Armatage neighborhood home to Lake Harriet, went around the lake and back home for a total of 6.07 miles. While the MInnehaha Creek flows rapidly, this is the first glimpse of open water I've seen on any of the Chain of Lakes. Euphoria!

In the winter months, I do not see much of the sun. I normally would have stayed in my nice warm bed but in the interest of better photos, I decided to venture over to Lake Harriet to see the sun rise and to snap a few photos in the bitter cold. I am glad I did because I really like several of the photos I took today. It was hard for me to choose my photo of the day.
Once again I am baffled at runners. They were out in full force even though it was below zero this morning. It took about 2 hours for my toes to thaw after just a short walk!

A brisk walk around (ok, not even close to around more like a side) Lake Harriet allowed me to capture an ice skater in action. I wish the skater was wearing a bright red jacket but alas. The Lake Harriet Bandshell is barely visible in the middle of the shot.
I attempted my first 365 photo project in 2011. I made it to Day 246.
