My tour guide for the Willard-Hay neighborhood was Bill Cottman. He is an amazing artist and has a lot of great stories about his life in Minneapolis. He is a husband, father, grandfather, retired electrical engineer, fine art photographer, writer, and co-host of the KFAI show, "Mostly Jazz."

I met Allie at Barbette for an early birthday celebration (her birthday is July 17) and afterward we went to a moss covered fence in front of a moss colored building for a quick photo shoot. Don't you just love her smile? I couldn't bring myself to use the creepy version as the photo of the day but it definitely makes me laugh.
This isn't Allie's first spot in my daily photo project as her shoes were a source of inspiration on June 16, exactly one month prior.

Scott and I are so lucky to have great people in our neighborhood. Among our favorites are The Beaches. Todd, Sarah, Abby, Liam and dog, Leo are often outside and willing to catch up on what is going on in each of our lives. They have an annual backyard party and last night we were able to join them. We met some of their great "teacher friends" and had great conversations about statistics, cameras, documentaries, concerts at the MN Zoo and of course Minneapolis 81.

I spent the evening walking around the streets of Minneapolis with Jan Elftmann and Dave Lewis, amazing individuals forming an amazing partnership. I learned that Jan asked Dave to marry her at the Monte Carlo and that their wedding date was 8-8-88. They are pictured here with their cat, Emma, on the back steps of their home at 801 Washington Lofts.
I can't wait for Jan's event: The 17th annual Art Cars & Art Bikes parade on Saturday, July 23 at 6 PM around Lake Harriet.

We celebrated Siri's graduation from a master's degree program at the University of St. Thomas with mojitos and margaritas at La Casita in St. Paul. The blue from Siri's shirt and the TV screen in the background seemed to have created blue spots in the photo.

Scott and I met Miranda and Adam at Fuji-Ya in St. Paul for dinner and drinks before the third Wits of the season. I have so much fun talking to Miranda and Adam and always look forward to these double dates. The only snafu of the evening was our late arrival to the restaurant due to commuter traffic. After dinner, we headed over to the Fitzgerald and enjoyed the pre-show tweets on the screen and the strolling accordion, which apparently is a divisive entertainment option according to the Twitter stream. Sandra Bernhard and Rosanne Cash were the in-person guests and Eugene Mirman called in. It was a fabulous night and I look forward to the fourth and final Wits of the 2011 season.

Todd is one of the Armatage 365 photographers. He showed up to our first gathering, a Happy Hour at Cafe Maude, sporting the Armatage logo t-shirt. He and I became fast friends. If you see him walking or driving around the neighborhood, say hello, and it's guaranteed you will be glad you can call him a neighbor.
I consider myself lucky to be part of such a great group of neighbors; excited to be a part of a collective art project in which we tell a story about our slice of the city of Minneapolis. We hope you enjoy seeing the story unfold.

A tradition I am trying to start is to enjoy at least one happy hour during Minnesota Craft Beer Week with friends. Last year, I had drinks on the patio of Town Hall Brewery with Kyle and Jeremy. This year, I met up with Scott, Kyle and Brian at Town Hall Tap across town. I had the house sampler which included Parkway Porter, Dortmunder Local, Masala Mama IPA and the West Bank Pub Ale. It was great to hang out with Kyle and meet Brian for the first time! Hope we can have a 3rd annual get happy hour next year.

Happy birthday @cleverkate! To celebrate her birthday, Kate gave her friends a sneak peak of Republic, a new restaurant in the Seven Corners neighborhood. Kate looked smashing in a "girly dress" (her description) which had pops of multi-colored flowers. I know Kate through my friend, Kyle (@dels). They are smart, funny people whom I am glad to know and call friends. Since Kate invited people through Facebook and Twitter, it was so much fun to meet people I've been interacting with on Twitter including Kendra (@backroad), Carson, (@numonia), Meghan (@irishgirl), Conner (@sloped) and many others. I also had fun connecting with people I'd already known but want to spend more time with. So, really, Kate gave her guests a gift. Gathering a bunch of funny, smart people in one space to connect. Kate makes things happen.

I met Cathy at Capella University and she was always one of my favorite people to run into in the hallway. Here's the lesson part of this story- always ask people to coffee when you think they're cool! Cathy no longer works at Capella and so our spontaneous hellos are no more. Lucky for me we were connected on Facebook and when she recently mentioned she wanted to visit her friend, Rachel, the manager at Pizzeria Lola, I jumped at the chance to join her. Pizzeria Lola was the Day 42 photo so I've already established it is in my 'hood!
Before we were seated at a table, we enjoyed a beer at the bar. Deschuttes Black Butte Porter for me and Fulton Lonely Blond for Cathy. When we were seated and it was time to order, it was a tough choice to pick a pie since I fell hard for both the Xerxes and The Boise on previous visits, it was hard to imagine I'd love another. Turns out I'm a promiscuous pizza lover! I went with Sweet Italian, and boy was it tasty! After we had our leftover pizza boxed up, Rachel sent over a complimentary House-made vanilla soft serve ice cream with extra-virgin olive oil & fleur de sel. Wow. wow. wow. So delicious. Thanks Rachel!
Before leaving, I was able to say a quick hello to the owner, Ann and snap her photo with Rachel. What a great evening. It was so great to hang out with Cathy and simultaneously catch up and get to know her better. She rocks and I can't wait to see where her job search takes her!
I attempted my first 365 photo project in 2011. I made it to Day 246.
