My neighborhood pal, Rowan, came over to play with Stewie. We went over to the south side of my home where the flowers are flourishing (without my intervention- yes!) and he picked a few daisies for his mom.

Stewie and I walked around part of Lake Harriet just as the sun was starting to set and casting a beautiful glow on the boats.

Friends, Kendra and Carson had a pizza party and we were fortunate to be guests. Carson makes incredible pizza and I am completely amazed that he was able to turn out restaurant quality pie on an old charcoal grill. YUM.

It was dreary for most of the day and I extroverted myself from 8 AM until Midnight the night before so I was pretty much useless all day. One of our adventures out in the world was to try the new DaVanni's in Richfield. We were both underwhelmed and the weird soda machine offering 100+ flavor options didn't even excite us. The day, in a word, was BLAH.

Tonight was the final show of the 2011 season of Wits. Now a tradition, we dined with Miranda and Adam before the show; this time at The Liffey. An added bonus was a brief appearance by Kyle Delahunt. We then arrived at The Fitzgerald at the exact time my friend, Allie and her boyfriend, Dan and friend, Nuria arrived. A great start to fantastic live performances by Neil Gaiman and Josh Ritter; phone chats with Wil Wheaton and Adam Savage. One of the highlights was getting to pet Neil Gaiman's dogs (oh and being one of 12 winners of a Wits prize - mine was a free drink).
Our other Wits dates:
Wits featuring Patton Oswalt & Grant Lee Philips
Wits featuring Chuck Klosterman & Craig Finn
Wits featuring Sandra Bernhard & Roseanne Cash

Today was the first day Scott and I picked up a CSA box from our 1/2 share of Driftless Organics. Knowing a bit about the challenges faced by the farmers makes me appreciate this food more than I do when I shop at my local Lunds. I am also encouraged to try foods I wouldn't normally choose, like French Breakfast radishes, the prettiest food in this week's box.

My last iPhone photo submission for a while. To get home to Minneapolis at a decent time, I had to leave Phoenix at an obnoxious hour. Today was one instance when having disturbed sleep patterns is a blessing. I woke up around 3:30 AM and left for the airport around 4:30 which was much sooner than my 7:00 AM flight time dictated. As it turns out, it was better that I did. Delta was having all sorts of issues and many of the 6:00 AM flight travelers missed their flights and had to be rebooked. Long lines every where and I just took it in stride knowing I couldn't do anything about it and that I had time on my side. As I as approaching the first part of the security process, I noticed the Phoenician sun rising through a black window covering which made for a cool filtered effect.

Today was my last day of working at colloquium, the face-to-face instruction for Capella's counseling and psychology learners. I worked in the Phoenix Hyatt Regency today and gave career advice to about 25 learners in back to back 15 minute appointments. If I went on more of these trips I'd definitely be 30 pounds heavier as every lunch comes with a big dessert and an afternoon snack. Pictured here, you see the special cheese platter provided to the hard working Events staff. They deserve that and so much more because they work so hard to create an educationally conducive event, attempting to meet a diversity of needs.
I attempted my first 365 photo project in 2011. I made it to Day 246.
