I work in the Mayo Memorial Building at the University of Minnesota which is an Instagrammer's paradise (cool letters/numbers, creepy hallways and origami cranes ). I spotted this table, lamp and stool outside the lab next door and commented on Instagram that "I kind of want this for my home." Flash forward a month and I am making it a reality. The lamp has already been scavenged but as soon as the "trash/toss" post-it notes were added to the stool and table, I swiftly moved them to my office.
This is a relatively tame venture into repurposing throwaways for new uses since I can always put them in my garage or basement as is and they will still be functional. I am going to try my hand at changing out the stool seat cover with something more colorful and perhaps painting the metal (inspired by this metal folding chair makeover). For the table, I hope to add a new top or otherwise make the existing top less scratchy/ugly.
I like the idea that no matter the result of this project, I'll have a piece of University of Minnesota research in my home!
